Today, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu is practiced by thousands of people around the world. We are administered by the Kokusai Renmei headed by Seigen Esaka Sensei, Hanchi, 10th Dan.The Renmei overseas competitions and promotions.
In the South African context, Mr. Akira Ishido or Ishido-sensei as we referred to him, from the Royal Embassy of Japan, introduced Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu to Iaidoka at the Katsujinken Kai dojo, Pretoria, in 2004. Ishido-sensei, a Nanadan - 7th Dan - has been practicing Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu for more than 20 years and was a student of the current President of the Kokusai Renmei.
After Ishido-sensei left South Africa at the end of 2006, we had the privilege to host instructors from Japan for seminars. Our dojo's name Katsujinken Kai means the Sword that gives Life. In 2007, after a successful examination, the first Shodan certification for Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu was officially awarded to a member of our dojo. Any interested person could visit us without an appointment during practice hours.
