Instructors
The students are guided in their practice of Muso Jikiden Eishen Ryu Iaido by Sensei Philip de Bruyn.
Philip-sensei started practicing Muso Shinden Ryu iaido in 1999 and in 2000 spent a month training in Japan where he was awarded his 2nd Kyu. During a seminar held in 2001 by a delegation from Japan, he was awarded his Ikkyu. In 2004 and 2005 Philip-sensei visit Japan again and was awarded his Shodan and Nidan respectively.
Philip-sensei met Ishido-sensei in 2004 and was invited to study Muso Jikiden Eishen Ruy Iaido and learned that the it was actually the oldest iaido style, and that Muso Shinden Ryu originated from it. In 2007 while visiting Japan, Philip-sensei passed the required testing and was awarded his Shodan for Muso Jikiden Eishen Ruy.
Philip-sensei have been fortunate to receive instruction from Esaka-sensei (President of the Kokusai Renmei) and other instructors, all whom have been students of Esaka-sensei.
In 2006, 2007 and 2010 instructors from Esaka Dojo visited us to ensure that we continue to stay true to the style.
We hope to continue hosting instructors from Esaka Dojo in the future to allow us to improve our techniques.
